‘Shiptober: Where will ‘The Blacklist’ season 4 take Liz, Tom, and Red?
The fourth season of “The Blacklist” is now a couple of episodes into its run, and we have certainly seem quite a few different things playing out. Liz and Tom Keen are closer to being together, Baby Agnes is on the way, and they’re closer to having the family unit that they dreamed of once more.
Now that we’ve said all of that, can it actually happen? Given that Tom’s got his own spin-off coming, it seems unlikely. Will it actually happen? That’s another interesting question in its own way, given that we know that there is a divided audience on whether or not he is the right person for her. ‘Shiptober is all about examining interesting relationships and dynamics, and we’re certainly going to do so within the span of the next couple of paragraphs.
The case for Liz and Tom – At the start of the series, there was some love there between these two, even if that love was covered up in the midst of a sea of lies about Tom’s true identity and why he got closer to her. Yet, at the same time these two seem to be drawn together now by chaos, and the shared trauma of their lives. They see each other as refuge, and now with all of their cards on the table, they can understand each other better then most. Yet, we do wonder if someone like Tom, who has been a tool for others before, could become that again at some point in the future. He has a knack for ruining everything good in his life.
The case for Liz and Red – The Lizzington ‘ship is still strong and in seeing everything Red does in order to ensure her safety, we understand that. Whatever his reasoning for protecting her may be, he cares for her deeply – even to the point that he ends up killing other people. He doesn’t hold Liz’s plan against her on anywhere near the same level that he seemed to with Mr. Kaplan. There is always forgiveness for Liz, and that’s a two way street. Everything he’s done has been for Liz and that’s a love that knows no boundaries.
The case for Liz and Ressler – This was something that the writers seemed to be moving towards earlier on in the series, and as much as we liked this pairing they haven’t seemed to go back to it. With everything that’s happened it would be difficult to bring these two together, but never say never. Ressler may be a guy who follows the rules, but we did see how much he cares for Liz even when she was on the wrong side of the law.
Who are you ‘shipping Liz with these days?

Hi Marie, There are a lot of people voting on this poll throughout the day and you may be voting at the same time as other people. The poll it self is working the way it’s supposed to. Hope this helps clear it up.

The original “case for Liz and Ressler” description may have been insulting to their fans but it was not inaccurate. As far as the show’s portrayal goes, they barely had a partner bond when they were partners. Even after 3 seasons it remains to be a very underdeveloped, mostly empty relationship.
The whole Tom-Liz disaster excels at being one of the most repelling and mishandled storylines one can be exposed to on network TV these days. Tom long overstayed his welcome on this show and other characters, mainly Liz, paid the price for it.
Red and Liz have always been the main focus and with good reason. Paternity is the least interesting question here, probably because it was answered two seasons ago. Their relationship has been multi-faceted and steadily developing from the start, so even a romantic turn would not come out of the blue. In fact, it would be a natural progression heralded by several romantic tropes and subtext.

Lizzington all the way! For those that can’t see the chemistry… open your eyes! Abides by tom, ressler has zero charisma. Red all the way.

The Lizzington thing is nauseating and putting her with Ressler would be so lame and false … Liz & Tom have overcome so much to be together, including forgiving each other for their pasts and what the did to each other (Liz telling Tom before the wedding she’d help carry his load if he did the same for her was one of Boone & Eggold’s best scenes) . This is the romantic heart of the story and s counterpoint to Spader’s darkness (which is the show’s soul) …it would totally suck to throw that away just for the spinoff !!!

I’ve never really considered lizzington a possibility (plus it seems that to Liz there is already *too much* Red in her life) and at this point I think it’s too late for keenler. All this time Liz only loved one man romantically. A sudden change of heart *just because he get a job in another show* doesn’t seem like a good character development. If they are going to break up I’d prefer both characters to stay single until the end of the show. Last season better be focused on spies and conspiracies, not on new romantic relationship.

To the writer(s), thank you for updating the super insulting Keenler bit to something certainly more diplomatic than the hate you were pushing towards the ship earlier.

Red is her dad and Tom abused her. I’m all Keenler.

Wow who even writes these articles? I for one really don’t want to read such biased information, so I’m glad I read this nonsense and won’t ever read any of your articles again. Have a nice life and try to do a better job at being impartial.

I don’t usually comment on these, but I’m a bit frustrated here. There are enough shipping wars that go on without the blatant rudeness that this article showed towards the Keenler side of the community. I’m a firm Keen2 shipper, but I was offended for them on this. A ship does not need to be canon to be enjoyed by a variety of people.
