‘Breaking Bad’ alum Bryan Cranston (jokingly?) wants to play Donald Trump
Could Bryan Cranston go from playing one former President in Lyndon Johnson to a Presidential candidate in Donald Trump? It’s the sort of thing that you really could imagine happening at some point — heck, we’d say it’s a sure thing in a few years down the line for HBO since they already did “Game Change” about John McCain and Sarah Palin.
Cranston did claim jokingly to Giuliana Rancic while at the E! red-carpet pre-show for the Emmys tonight that Trump would be on the top of the list of future people he’d like to play — and from there, he did a Trump impression complete with some of his famous hand motions. We’d never heard the “Breaking Bad” star’s Trump voice before, but it may now be among our top five favorites to date. That’s saying something given that everyone at this point has some sort of Trump that they can pull out there at any given moment.
While the whole idea was made out of good fun (Cranston also joked that he would want Heidi Klum, who appeared on the show right before him, to play Ivanka), at the same exact time we could envision a scenario where he is asked. Just remember for a minute here that Cranston’s already got a great relationship with HBO thanks to “All the Way,” and they’re well-versed in the politics game.
Of course, after this election we have a feeling Trump fatigue is going to be out there in a very real way — and it’d probably be the same for Hillary Clinton. The news cycle has been exhausting, to put it mildly.
