‘Switched at Birth’ season 5 (finally) has a premiere date

We know that there has been a mystery for some time surrounding the fifth season premiere of “Switched at Birth,” and we are here to tell you precisely when it is going to premiere: Tuesday, January 24 on Freeform. This was confirmed by creator Lizzy Weiss in a new post on Twitter.

Why has there been such a lengthy hiatus? We certainly do not think that it is tied to anything on the show’s end of things. Instead, it seems to have been more of a network point of view trying to find the perfect place for the show to return. January is a long ways away; by the time it premieres, it will have been more than a year removed from when the fourth season concluded in 2015.

This final season will run for ten episodes, and as the cake below gives away, one part of the equation is going to be the landmark 100th episode. If there was ever a reason to be excited for what the future holds, this is probably it. We’re excited to see how much of this particular story develops, especially when it comes to navigating what Bay and Daphne new next given the way in which they ended season 4 by going overseas and effectively pushing pause on most of the drama in their lives. Eventually, they will have to come back, and there could be quite a few differences when they do and new things that they have to tackle.

We will have some other news when it comes to the season as we get a little closer to premiering. Stay tuned!
