Is ‘Mistresses’ season 4, episode 7 new tonight on ABC? Looking past the hiatus
“Mistresses” is a show definitely on the bubble in terms of whether or not it could be back for another season. With that in mind, we’re sure that fans of the show probably would like to see some consistency. We’ve seen it go off the air for the NBA Finals, and then we had it go on the air for the Fourth of July despite a clear lack of a “Bachelorette” lead-in. Ultimately, there’s just not much to be said here when it comes to how ABC is scheduling the show.
Want the bad news? That inconsistency is going to continue, even though there is a reason why.
There is no new episode of the show airing on the network tonight, as there are plans instead to promote the coverage of the Republican National Convention. That’s understandable, given that this is the sort of event that only happens every handful of years. The same goes next week, when presumably the show is preempted by the Democratic Convention.
Following that, we’re presuming that the show is off of the air on August 1 to accommodate the finale for “The Bachelorette,” which always includes the “After the Final Rose” special. Once again we do get it, at least from the vantage point that this show is a significant amount of ratings dynamite for ABC. In the end, it makes sense from the network point of view that “Mistresses” could be off the air until past August 1, but that probably does not make it any less frustrating for viewers who just want to see this season play out with a reasonably normal schedule. Rest assured that we’ll have further news as it comes out.
