NBC’s ‘The Voice’ iTunes results: Paxton Ingram, Mary Sarah, Laith Al-Saadi solid; Beyonce’s impact
As of right now, it doesn’t feel as though any artist on “The Voice” has much of a prayer in the world of making it into the top 10 on iTunes and getting that big multiplier, and there are two key reasons for that: Beyonce’s “Lemonade,” and then also Prince.
As of this writing (which is around 12:30 p.m. Eastern time), every song in the top 16 is either Prince or Beyonce with two exceptions. There’s no way for the show’s contestants to really compete with that. The strongest contender right now is Paxton Ingram at #18 with “Break Every Chain,” and there’s three simple reasons for that: Gospel, an improved vocal, and also Blake Shelton. Religious songs always sell extremely well on this show, and that of course makes us wonder whether or not we could see someone else make this move before the end of the season.
Next up on the list, you have Mary Sarah at #26 with “Johnny & June,” while Laith Al-Saadi is at #29 with “Make It Rain.” The show’s favorite in Alisan Porter is at #31 with “Stay with Me Baby,” which we thought was a mistake when it comes to song choice. She’ll be back, but she may need to take a different direction if she wants to ensure that she has a chance to win.
One thing that we definitely didn’t expect was Adam Wakefield (#33) performing weaker than his two cohorts from Team Blake. Either way, all of his artists are sticking around.
As for who’s in the biggest danger, Shalyah Fearing, Nick Hagelin, and Bryan Bautista are barely in the top 100, while Daniel Passino and Owen Danoff are not even charting within that measure. One of these five is likely leaving tonight.
