‘Castle’ season 8, ‘Galavant,’ ‘Agent Carter’ among shows still waiting for renewal news
Today, ABC made a big and rather unexpected move given their history, and decided that it would be a good idea to go ahead and renew the majority of their primetime programming. This is not something that we’ve really seen from them in the past, or at least when Paul Lee was in charge of running the show.
While there was a robust of shows picked up for another season including “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” and others, there were a few left out in the cold. This is effectively what this article is all about.
“Castle” – Why didn’t the Nathan Fillion – Stana Katic series receive any love? Ratings are a big part of it, especially when this show is far enough in its run right now that you have to pay the cast a pretty penny. Our sentiment is that with a show that is so far into its run, you want to do it justice. The best way to do this is by giving it at least a shortened final season similar to what “Bones” has.
“Galavant” – We absolutely adore the show, but with terrible ratings and a new programming head, the odds are not great.
“Agent Carter” – You can more or less copy and paste what we just said above about “Galavant.” It’s got an uphill battle.
“American Crime” – It’s a very good series, but the ratings may force ABC to look at doing other things with creator John Ridley. We also wonder at this point if viewers are being confused between this and “The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story.”
“Nashville” – Like with “Castle,” we’re leaning towards seeing a shortened final season.

I guess we can all understand that the Castle payroll is pretty high, so is NCIS,Grey’s Anatomy and a lot of others. We never hear about the high cost from them. I understand it is all about ratings, Castles went down big time this year. On Feb 18th I wrote the new president of ABC asking to have someone look into why Castles rating fell so hard, before he pulls the pin on the show. I just wanted ABC to look into this BS spllt and separation of Rick and Kate, I feel it is the biggest cause of the ratings problems. We are going into episode 14 and it is still here. If ABC can get both Rick and Kate to sign a new 13 episode season 9 contracts and let this wonderful show go out on a high, everyone would win even the fans. If that happened a couple of thing ABC might want to change. Switch the dates on times with Grey’s Anatomy and replace show runner Hawley.

Good points Georgee. Just wish that ABC would heed your letter. Up until this season CASTLE was my favorite TV show despite the way Season 6 ended with Rick’s kidnapping as he and Kate were about to be wed. The writers screwed up with that one. But the split and seperation of Kate and Rick is the reason I quit watching. Rick’s disappearance on the way to his wedding and the whole LokSat stuff is BS. Move on and let’s get back to what people love about the show, Rick and Kate sharing life together and working together solving crimes. If and when they do, “I will watch the show again”.

To night we get to see a episode written by show runner Hawley, that in its self is just rich. He is the one for the big bold split and separation of Rick and Kate. I really think he has a big dislike for Stana ( Kate). This has been written and ready to air for over two months, and we all get to see what a Castle spin off would be like with out Kate. As for me you can spin off Castle in a hundred different ways and it is nothing without Rick and Kate side by side. If it where to spin off make it more like King and Maxwell. On 11/21/2015 tv line made a couple of comments after episode 8, did Rick and Kate make a baby last night, that was shot down by Hawley on 11/24/2015. He did not know how you could write in a pregnant Kate , she would not be knick a** and boots on the ground enough. I wonder if he feels the same way about is new boss, that if she was pregnant could she be strong enough to be president of ABC. We have less than 6 hours left if you include to night episode to enjoy to what was once ABC best show. I hope we have a season 9 with Rick and Kate and if it is the finale season like Bones let them go out on a high note.
