‘Castle’ season 8, ‘Galavant,’ ‘Agent Carter’ among shows still waiting for renewal news

Today, ABC made a big and rather unexpected move given their history, and decided that it would be a good idea to go ahead and renew the majority of their primetime programming. This is not something that we’ve really seen from them in the past, or at least when Paul Lee was in charge of running the show.

While there was a robust of shows picked up for another season including “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” and others, there were a few left out in the cold. This is effectively what this article is all about.

“Castle” – Why didn’t the Nathan Fillion – Stana Katic series receive any love? Ratings are a big part of it, especially when this show is far enough in its run right now that you have to pay the cast a pretty penny. Our sentiment is that with a show that is so far into its run, you want to do it justice. The best way to do this is by giving it at least a shortened final season similar to what “Bones” has.

“Galavant” – We absolutely adore the show, but with terrible ratings and a new programming head, the odds are not great.

“Agent Carter” – You can more or less copy and paste what we just said above about “Galavant.” It’s got an uphill battle.

“American Crime” – It’s a very good series, but the ratings may force ABC to look at doing other things with creator John Ridley. We also wonder at this point if viewers are being confused between this and “The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story.”

“Nashville” – Like with “Castle,” we’re leaning towards seeing a shortened final season.
