‘Fuller House’ video: Latest promo makes questionable decision
We understand that “Fuller House” wants to do everything that they can to be relevant leading to the show’s February 26 premiere, but was the right move really to get Candace Cameron, Bure, Andrea Barber, and Jodie Sweetin to do the whip and the nae nae? The fact that we just wrote that out is something that will remain rather distressing to us for the rest of the week.
This new promo below is corny, awkward, and somewhat useless; it’s a very strange change in direction from the perfectly nostalgic first promo that Netflix recently released of the show, featuring the iconic “Full House” setting in San Francisco. It seems like someone thought that this was necessarily to show us that DJ and Stephanie Tanner can still be funny, but we’re pretty sure that they can be. After all, why in the world would this show be coming back?
Here’s the other problem with the promo: It feels like way to direct of a rip-off from the “Dancing with the Stars” promo campaign from this past fall, which featured many of their Stars and professional dancers doing the same moves to the same song. Sure, we know that many other people are out there doing the same thing on YouTube, but it feels especially serendipitous in this situation given that Bure was a contestant on that show, which probably has improved her dance confidence a million times over.
In the end, we’re still very much excited about the premiere of “Fuller House.” We’re just not altogether enthused about this promo and hope that this is not some sort of indictment on what is coming on the show itself.
