‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ hires Arnold Schwarzenegger to replace Donald Trump
In just one simple move, NBC has now saved us from a case of the Mondays. We thought that the network was going to have a near-impossible task replacing Donald Trump as the new host of “The Celebrity Apprentice,” but they have found someone who feels absolutely perfect in Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Of course, the first thing we credit the show for is getting someone who is insanely rich, and knows a thing or two about what it means to build a success from the ground up. He’s a hustler, and while he went about it in a different way than Trump, the results are still the results. It also helps that they also found someone who is an over-the-top character in his own right. He’ll have his own catch-phrases, and it doesn’t feel like he will be just an imitation of Trump.
“We are thrilled to be opening a powerful new chapter in the story of the Apprentice franchise … Arnold Schwarzenegger is the epitome of a global brand in entertainment and business, and his accomplishments in the political arena speak for themselves. It was Arnold’s personal passion for the format that Mark Burnett and Donald Trump built over the last decade, as well as his fresh take on how to take it to new heights for today’s audiences, that made him the man to hire.”
Arnold also reacted to the next of his hire in a post on Twitter, and it is equally fair to say that he is excited about the role. The charitable angle of the show is a smart one; it allows us to be guilt-free about mocking the trainwreck that is this show relentlessly year after year.
We’re going to be spending the rest of the day trying to calm down from this news, but react to the hire now in the comments! Also, you can sign up here to get some other TV updates on all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: ABC.)
