‘Arrested Development’ season 5 will likely happen; ‘Fuller House’ still hoping for Olsen Twins
For anyone out there hoping to get more of “Arrested Development” on the air in the next year or two, Netflix head Ted Sarandos said a few things at TCA that have us hopeful when it comes to the future of the series.
Sarandos specifically said that they are “plugging along” to ensure that there will be a fifth season of the acclaimed comedy, but also conceded that it is a “long complex deal” to get everyone on board since the talent involved is “very busy” on other projects. Negotiations are underway to try to make it happen. We feel like it will ultimately all come together, even if we are looking at a format similar to season 4 where actors appear in select episodes and only spend a little bit of time together. At first, we didn’t love this format during season 4, but almost all of that changed the moment that we got to the brilliant Gob episode that may be some of Will Arnett’s best work ever.
As for another high-profile comedy in “Fuller House” (premiering next year), Sarandos mentioned that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are “teetering” in regards to whether or not they want to take part in the show. We understand very much that these two women are very busy now in the fashion world, and financially they really don’t need to ever do anything again in their careers unless they really want to. If we were them, our suggestion would be to appear for a minute or two, have a fun cameo, and then go on to do other things. This way they continue to mostly focus on their empire, but they are giving back to the fans who want to see them turn up.
We will have some other news soon on both of these shows, so be on the lookout!
