‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 8, episode 17 review: Are Raj and Emily no more?
Thursday night’s new episode of “The Big Bang Theory” was ripe with a variety of interesting storylines; some were completely random, but others may be a little more significant to the story long-term.
In the random department, we had Leonard deciding to put himself out there, and paint with Penny using their bodies. It’s a big step for the two of them! Also, these two used that in order to prove that they are not old people, and can still do a variety of crazy things. Eventually, they did pull it off … and we got at least a few laughs out of it.
On a more serious note, Sheldon managed to convince Amy to travel to Mars with him on a proposed colonization trip … but not after some fighting. These two went back and forth, mostly because he hid his application from her at first, and even made a video. At the same time, they were almost considering taking a major step forward and buying a turtle. To them, that’s an enormous move in the right direction.
Now, we turn to Raj, who made a classic mistake in this episode: Deciding that it was going to be a good idea to snoop through Emily’s apartment while she was away. Was this a complete deal-breaker for the two of them? We were certainly worried about it. We did like that they managed to work it out in the end, but with a nice little move by Emily to get a little revenge on him by acting like there was something horrible in the closest. Grade: B.

I liked this episode because of both the Leonard/Penny storyline and the Sheldon/Amy storyline. I loved that Amy compared het relationship with Sheldon to a turtle. Way to go, Amy! I also liked that Amy called ou Sheldon when he did not consult her about his future plans. I also liked Sheldon’s Mars application video. At the end of the day, their relationship is going slow, but it seems that Amy and Sheldon do have a future together. The body paint story was funny and showed that Penny and Leonard make a good couple. I am not sure about Raj and Emily as a couple. I am not sure that the writers know what to do with Emily and Raj either. I amo glad that they patched up their fight, but I am not sure about them. Grade:B
