‘Arrow’ season 3, episode 12 video: The tie between Danny Brickwell, Malcolm Merlyn
As you have most likely heard, next week’s new episode of “Arrow” entitled “Uprising” is going to revolve heavily around the Malcolm Merlyn character, and finding out more of why he became a cold-blooded, deceptive killer rather than a sweet, caring family man. There is more to this man than meets the eye (there always is).
In the sneak peek below, we at least have an answer to why this story of Merlyn’s past really matters right now: We learn of the tie between him and Danny Brickwell. After analyzing some new evidence, Felicity figures out that this is the man responsible for the death of Rebecca Merlyn, Malcolm’s wife. This was the catalyst behind his change to vicious human being, and after he hears this, you have to think he will be willing to team up with everyone in the Arrow-Cave to take him down. The look on John Barrowman’s face almost says it all.
What could make this episode so effective includes learning a few things about other characters, and possibly how they relate more to the present. For example, could we see even more of Tommy Merlyn in here, or at least more of Ra’s al Ghul? We would be shocked if at least one of them did not appear within the course of this hour.
When you consider everything that Malcolm has to say in do in this episode, though, we also wonder if there is even going to be room for any other stories to come out in this episode. Are we going to have time to even spend on Oliver? We also have the Black Canary story to continue dealing with.
