‘Homeland’ season 4, episode 11 shocker: Who is a traitor?
Sunday night’s penultimate episode of “Homeland” season 4 managed to pull off a variety of different things, but we imagine that one twist everyone will be talking about in particular for some time revolves around the answer to one simple question: Who was the biggest traitor of them all?
The answer in the context of this show is simple: Dar Adal, who had been absent for most of the season so far, and from our vantage point, it was mostly because he did not have anything better to do with his time.
Now comes the speculation: What in the world is Dar Adal up to? He is working undercover to lure Haqqani into a false sense of security, or something else entirely?
We suppose that our feeling over this big reveal overshadows so much else of what this episode accomplished, and it did quite a few spectacular things. For example, it came up with a real, heartfelt way to signal off the end of James Rebhorn, who died earlier this year before production even began. The show waiting to kill of Carrie’s father, but retroactively, it feels like the stalling ended up being the right move.
So who will survive next week? It’s an interesting question, and a complicated one given that there is such a variety of characters at the moment who you could argue are at serious risk. We’ll be watching, and after tonight, we may be more engrossed in this story than we have been all season.
