‘Hart of Dixie’ season 4 spoilers: Why is Wade hesitating on Zoe?

For fans of “Hart of Dixie,” this week is turning out to be a great one. The season 4 premiere airs on Monday night, and to go along with that, there is a little publicity tour going on to better promote it.

Throughout almost every bit of promotional material that is out there, one theme for the new season remains pretty clear: Zoe wants to get back with Wade. With this in mind, why doesn’t Wade want to get back with Zoe? Why is he hesitating, since he made the decision to not take the Rammer Jammer on the road? As show creator Leila Gerstein tells TVLine, much of it has to do with the fact that he feels hurt by her, and while he may not admit it to himself, this is a big reason why he is steering pretty clear:

“Zoe has burned Wade. Before Zoe, he never put himself on the line for anyone ever. Everything came easy for Wade until he met this woman. And then he put himself out there for her at the end of Season 2, and not only did she stay in New York, she came back with a new guy. She devastated him. Going back in those waters is not something he thinks his heart can take.”

There is definitely still plenty of reasons to be hopeful over the future of these characters, if for no other reason than that there are still feelings, they are both single, and there’s that little thing known as Rachel Bilson’s pregnancy, which is eventually going to be a part of the show. At the moment, we are not exactly seeing a whole lot of other candidates to be the father of her child.
