‘Downton Abbey’ season 5, episode 7 preview: Will Laura Carmichael’s Edith be exposed?
Tonight, “Downton Abbey” aired an episode that was ultimately stuffed with a variety of different surprises, including the truth coming out about Bates, and whether or not he actually killed Mr. Green. (Warning: Spoilers ahead for Americans!)
Luckily, Bates proved his innocence to Anna, but he may still have some other struggles ahead. If only everyone else had something to be happy about. Edith decided to depart the Abbey after the death of Gregson, and with her secret about her child secret … for now. Will that change very soon? It certainly seems possible, given that the secret was already revealed to her adopted mother in a particularly heart-wrenching scene.
While ITV is being coy about many of their upcoming stories, they did release an official synopsis recently detailing some of what you can expect:
“Rosamund arrives back at Downton following Edith’s shock departure – will her secret finally be exposed? Rose is delighted to be introducing Atticus and his parents to her family. Below stairs, Molesley is concerned as Daisy becomes disillusioned with her studies, so he hatches a plan to talk her around. With the worst of their troubles seemingly over, Anna and Bates start thinking about the future. Isobel makes a happy announcement – but there may be trouble ahead. Violet has her hands full with her warring servants, while Mary and Blake seize their opportunity to send Gillingham a strong message.”
If this episode is anywhere near as fantastic as the one tonight, then we imagine that we may be closer than ever to feeling that this show is just as great as it once was.
