‘Shark Tank’ review: EmergenSee, Honeyfund, BeatBox Beverages, and the Oilerie USA

The latest -Tonight, “Shark Tank” probably had as diverse a lineup of products as they have to date, mostly because we had everything from alcohol to olive oil to apps to honeymoon registries. There was basically at least something that almost any viewer would be interested in at some point.

As with every single “Shark Tank” review we do at CarterMatt, you can click the links below to go to each product’s official page.

The Oilerie – Could this be a good franchise? In small towns, sure. We see the value, but we also think that unless you are a real food snob, we have a hard time seeing that this will ever be the next Starbucks. We do hope that this business takes off, though, mostly because it was hard to not like the guy pitching it. No deal.

Honeyfund – Another idea that we in theory like, but this problem that we’re running into here is what we predicted: How do you really make big money with this? We didn’t really like their presentation, and we know from experience in this web space that they are over-complicating things.

Still, this husband-and-wife duo received three offers, but they did something very surprising and went with Kevin O’Leary’s offer. Basically, he offered them his version of a loan, and they took it thanks in part because there was no equity or royalty attached.

EmergenSee – An ambitious app, and one that we knew could take off with the right people involved. These guys aren’t the right people, since neither really understands the technology, and it will cost them tons of money anytime that there is a major change that needs to be done. We also wonder whether or not people could use this app for all sorts of things that are not exactly emergencies. No deal.

BeatBox Beverages – The product that we’ve previewed extensively already. It is a mixed drink business that seems a little obnoxious, but who knows? Maybe people out there like it. Clearly, Mark Cuban does, since he put way more money into this ($1 million for 33%) than we thought he would have. Granted, we also feel like he can really help them go viral, and make this something extremely big extremely quickly.
