‘Shark Tank’ review: Red Dress Boutique, the Caddie Girls, Sun-Staches, and Jungle Jumparoo

The latest -Tonight, we had a variety of products shown off on “Shark Tank,” and also a variety of marks. We saw something marketed at kids, something marketed at young women, and something marketed at guys who want a very specific sort of caddy. Were any of them good products? Well, there’s at least one we would consider investing in if we were a shark, but we’ll get to that a little later.

As always with some of our “Shark Tank” reviews, we have links below to all of our products to go along with our individual takes on them.

Jungle Jumparoo – This was a weird presentation and ultimately a weird defense by the business owners of the presentation, mostly saying that the sharks didn’t understand because they didn’t see their kids on it. How is anyone going to buy it with this sort of explanation, unless a major store is willing to use a ton of retail space to show it off?

We feel like this probably is a decent product, and kids probably do love it. It’s just not something that is particularly conducive to a retail outlet with its box size, and how important a demonstration is. No deal.

The Caddie Girls – There is a big market out there for this sort of thing. Basically, this has been done in hair salons, restaurants, and so much more. While there’s a clear gimmick here, at least the ladies all seem to know their golf. It’s just not our sort of thing, so we wouldn’t invest based on that alone.

We’ll at least give them some credit for know how much is too much. Kevin O’Leary wanted to take too much of the company in 50%, and while we would’ve done the deal with him for 40%, he wasn’t going to budge. Good move. No deal.

Red Dress Boutique – One of the featured products this episode, and really, one of the best pitches that we’ve ever seen on the show. We’re not a customer for the brand, but we are very impressed with the sales, the marketing strategy, and even the story. While there were some sad moments and struggle, it didn’t make it into a sad story by any means.

This is what happens when you bring in a great brand to the tank: You get a very good deal! While they gave up more equity than they intending ($1.2 million for 20%), they had two people in Mark Cuban and Robert Herjavec who are perfect for what she is trying to do. A great job by all parties involved here.

Sun-Staches – Is this as silly as it looks? We gotta be honest: We thought that this was a joke when we first saw this, since we’ve seen all of this stuff for years. With that being said, they’ve got a ton of sales! They have wonderful margins, as well.

These guys really did value themselves a little too much, so they can’t be that angry to have given up 20% of their company to Daymond for $300,000. The reality here is that he’s going to make them a tony of money. He has all the connections in both fashion and licensing, and their profits are going to soar.
