‘Downton Abbey’ season 5: Maggie Smith takes center stage in latest promo

The closer that we get to the “Downton Abbey” premiere, the more and more thrilled we become with each passing promo … even if it is one that focuses on just one character, which is very much the case for what we have below.

This new teaser features Maggie Smith’s Dowager front and center, as she tries to convince a certain Isobel Crawley to finally let go of the pain and the heartache in her life for one simple reason: Allowing herself to find love again. There may be a potential suitor for her moving forward, and she has to figure out how to allow herself to enter this world again and be truly happen.

What we can tell you for now is that after being somewhat shelved the past two seasons and relegated more to the background, we are gearing up for what may be the best season for Smith in a long time. There will be a significant story for her, and that sounds great to us! It feels about time that she can get a little bit of revenge over some of those people who claim that she didn’t have enough to do to earn an Emmy nomination for her past work in season 4.

One other person we are hoping to see a big story from in the future is Robert, mostly because he really was relegated at times to background work last year … and that is the supposed lead of the show. We know his filming for “The Monuments Men” made things trickier for him, but still.
