‘Arrow’ season 3 spoilers: ‘Riddick’ alum Matt Nable cast as Ra’s al Ghul
“Arrow” has just officially brought on their big bad for the upcoming season, and he is a guy who will have a huge challenge ahead of him.
Series star Stephen Amell was the first to announce that Matt Nable, whose credits include “Riddick” and “Underbelly,” will play the notorious crime boss on the third season of the show. This is news that is very easy to get excited about for a number of different reasons. For one, there is no longer the big mystery out there about who will be Ra’s. Also, we can now start speculating about the story, and not about whether or not Liam Neeson will get the role.
Personally, we are actually pretty happy that the part went to someone who is a relative unknown in some ways. The problem that would have come with casting someone like Neeson is that it would have tied the show to the Christopher Nolan – “Batman” movies in a strange way. Plus, there are probably scheduling and budget issues that would come into play there, as well.
We’ve come to have quite a bit of faith in the “Arrow” casting department, given that they have found quite a few gems so far. John Barrowman is the perfect Malcolm Merlyn, Amell was a great find, and you’ve also got Manu Bennett and Emily Bett Rickards both among the roster of great casting choices for roles that became something big over time. Hopefully, Nable will end up being someone that we can get behind as one of the best villains within the world of “Arrow.”
