‘Falling Skies’ season 5: First teaser promo sets up the endgame

After five seasons, “Falling Skies” will come to a close on TNT next year, and we now have the first video peek of how the network is going to go about promoting this final chapter.

The first thing that you should obviously know about the promo below is that there is no new footage within it, but you probably expected this given that the show is not anywhere close to deep enough into production yet. The show does have a longer window between filming and the show airing than most, though, thanks largely to the fact that it takes so much more post-production to bring some of these creatures and characters to life.

Based on the end of the fourth season, you can almost definitely expect things to continue moving in an interesting, hopeful direction. It feels like Tom may be closer than ever to uncovering the secret to survival, but he doesn’t know how to implement it yet. Instead, all he has is the revelation of a figure in space, who he deems as “beautiful,” who we are still unable to see or understand clearly. Lexi is seemingly gone, but she went away a hero in order to protect those she does truly love.

We do understand that there have been criticisms of the show from time to time, and we are right there with some of them. The show does try too hard at times to have a war-like atmosphere, and there were many episodes in the early days that felt like the same thing regurgitated a million times.

Still, we really enjoyed the past few episodes of season 4, and are super-excited to see where we go from here.
