‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ spoilers: Jessica Lange has huge expectations

Whenever Jessica Lange is hyping up something, you better be prepared to listen. After all, this is a woman who has won countless awards, and certainly knows quality better than anyone. We also don’t envision her as the sort of person who is going to just say something is good without genuinely meaning it.

Lange was honored yet again last night with an Emmy for her role on “American Horror Story,” and in teasing the upcoming season “Freak Show” in the press room (per TVLine), she spoke at length about how much she is enjoyed the process right now:

“I’m actually looking forward to this season … I think it is going to be the most extraordinary that we’ve done. The potential is extraordinary. If we can keep on track, I think it’s going to be something really, really special.”

In a way, the reason we’re surprised that “Coven” was successful Monday was because it did go off track on a few separate occasions; then again, maybe this is even more to the credit of Lange and Kathy Bates that the two were able to shine through the craziness around them to the point where they were each able to win awards.

The reason that we have so much hope right now for “Freak Show” to be amazing is simple: The sheer size of this cast. It is hard for it not to be when you remember that you have the likes of Sarah Paulson, Michael Chiklis, and even a guest appearance from Matt Bomer thrown in there for good measure.
