‘White Collar’ season 6: Matt Bomer teases finale, ‘American Horror Story’ role

WhatTo us, not seeing Matt Bomer win an Emmy was one of the biggest surprises of the entire night. While “The Normal Heart” still ended up receiving a trophy, most of the performers in the project lost out to some from “Sherlock” and “American Horror Story: Coven.”

But one thing that many were curious about when talking with Matt on the red carpet for the Emmys was simple: What it was like filming the big finale to “White Collar” after six seasons on the air. Speaking to TVLine, Bomer had the following to say on the subject of what an emotional experience this was getting through those final episodes with his cast and crew:

“It was cathartic, because we really do like each other … It was hard to say goodbye … Now we have to take the love we had on that job and take it to whatever is next.”

Bomer added that he and the writers / producers “tried to give [the fans] something that would be in traditional ‘White Collar’ form,” which means a number of twists and surprises every step of the way. Given that the final season is only going to be around six or so episodes, we imagine that this was even more of a challenge for them to try and meet than usual.

The new season of “White Collar” does not have a premiere date yet, but we are still banking on either the end of this year, or potentially the start of 2015 for when Neal Caffrey’s journey will start to wrap up.
