‘Hell on Wheels’ season 4, episode 3 preview: Anson Mount, ‘Chicken Hill,’ and the familiar
Going into “Hell on Wheels” season 4, you most-likely assumed that at some point, we were going to eventually see a certain Cullen Bohannon out of the Mormon commune, and back doing what he is known for: The railroad. Of course, that is not going to come without complications, given that this is not a man who tends to enjoy a whole lot of oversight. (Just ask The Swede.)
The new episode airing on AMC next week is entitled “Chicken Hill,” which could be seen as a reference to a multitude of things. What is most important to note for the time being is that we will see Anson Mount’s character struggling to adapt with a new form of occupational oversight, just as Durant is going to suffer the same fate in a completely different way.
For a few more details right now, take a look at the official synopsis via AMC:
“Cullen goes back to work on the railroad and butts heads with his new boss. Meanwhile, Durant and Campbell clash over a valuable piece of real estate.”
In the end, we expect further to see some of the same themes that we had in the episode tonight carry over to next week, and part of that is seeing how much of this world adapts to changes coming from the east. The West is no longer so free, so can the likes of Cullen and Durant really preserve their familiar way of life? They have not always seen eye-to-eye, but they may need to right now.

I am hoping you bring back Elam. I enjoyed his character and hope you reunite him with the girl with the tattoo on her chin. I would like the story line to go something like this. Elam is found by the Cheyenne and survives his attack by the black bear. They admire him for that. They are intrigued by the color of his skin. He makes his way back to Cheyenne. Restarts his relationship with his beloved. They have their family. He builds a beautiful home for them. All the while he gets filthy rich. Elam gains fame and fortune and leaves quite a legacy to his loving family. Elam and Cullen also reestablished their relationship. They help each other build their homes & raise their children. They finish building the railroad together. Cullen and Elam both become prominent citizens. Later, after the railroad is built they become senators traveling back and forth between Washington DC on the very railroad they built. Oh yes. Durant ends up getting himself killed by someone he has secret dealings with. Sorry to take up so much of your time. Just wanted to say how I’d like to see the Hells On Wheels story play out. I really like your show.
