‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4 spoilers: Series boss confirms Elsa, ‘Frozen’ plans
Have you had a few minutes now to digest the shock at the end of the “Once Upon a Time” finale? We’re still somewhat reeling from the idea that the show managed to get “Frozen” involved in the show months after it came out, and even though there was some evidence out there that the move could happen (as in the producers saying that they’d love to do it), this is a cliffhanger that virtually no one saw coming. Even the cast was kept largely in the dark.
Before you start to wonder whether or not that actually was Elsa at the end of the finale, or some other twist on “The Snow Queen” character, we’ve got some proof for you now. Speaking to TVLine, executive producer Adam Horowitz confirmed that they had gone so far as to pitch the idea to some powers-that-be to ensure that the character landed as a part of their show:
“That is Elsa. We fell in love with the movie Frozen when we saw it, my daughters are obsessed as is Eddy’s son… It is something that ever since we saw it would gnaw at us, ‘Is there a way to fit it into our world?’ And we cooked up a way to do it. We pitched the studio and the network and they were kind enough to say, ‘Go do it.'”
Horowitz and co-showrunner Edward Kitsis confirmed that there is no casting out there for the character just yet, but both this report and various users on Twitter are already pitching Maggie Grace from “Lost.” We mentioned earlier today that there was a name that we were starting to think about, but we wanted to wait to get a little more information before we spoke it out loud. Well, here it is: Gillian Jacobs. It may be a stretch given that she’s known now for comedy, but it could be a fun departure for her depending on what happens with “Community.” Meanwhile, depending on what happens to her character on “Arrow” Wednesday night we could also see some people pitching Caity Lotz.
