‘Mad Men’ season 7, episode 4: Talking the ‘house’ conspiracy

House -Everyone loves a great “Mad Men” conspiracy theory, and trust us when we say that we are right there with you. However, the problem that comes with one of the latest and greatest ones is that it’s really not as cool as you would want it to be.

Ever since Sunday’s “The Monolith” aired, the internet has been buzzing over the theory that the house that served as the setting for the hippie commune Roger visited was the same house that Don Draper grew up in. When it comes to the actual set, it does appear pretty clear that we are talking about the same exact house here. It’s hard to find too many houses that have this sort of space that have the same exact design to them.

Alas, the evidence strongly supports this not being the same place that Don Drpaer the character actually lived in at one point. Remember here that he grew up in the midwest, and given that Roger was able to drive from SC&P to the commune in a reasonably short amount of time, we’re looking at this house being somewhere in New York. Odds are not good that someone prior to 1969 went through all the trouble of moving an entire house.

So are we bummed out that “Mad Men” used the same house twice for two separate purposes? A little bit, since this is a show that typically prides itself on being right, and not making a whole lot mistakes. This is a particularly sad one since it messes with our mind and reminds us it is a TV show. Coming up with any other explanation for this is just a leap too far.

What do you think: Is it bad that “Mad Men” just used the same location twice, or can you really blame them for it?
