‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 7: Kunal Nayyar on Raj’s romantic partners
Has this season of “The Big Bang Theory” been the season of Raj? It really doesn’t feel like the season of anyone, and the credit has to go to the writers for that. While past years have felt particularly slanted towards a couple of characters, everyone has had their moments over the past several weeks … including even Raj after a long time of being stuck in first gear.
Raj found love! Heck, he found two loves! Earlier this season, he was confronted with the choice of either Lucy or Emily, and he ended up being with the latter for the time being. Both women brought something different to his life, but for Raj, the most important thing is that he actually was honest about the choice that he was facing, and that ended up helping he and Emily become a stronger pair in the end. This is something that Howard almost surely would have screwed up.
In the video below, Kunal Nayyar shares some of his own take on Kate Micucci and Laura Spencer’s characters, while praising Raj’s own sense of passion and confidence. This is not the same guy that we saw years ago, and hopefully he continues to carry this confidence through the rest of the season. It’s easier to root for him in some ways than anyone else on the show, mostly because he’s genuine and earnest. He’s sometimes a little naive and afraid to put himself out there, but he rarely acts selfishly, doesn’t insult his significant others, and also doesn’t need a signed-up agreement to be in a relationship with someone else.
We’ll see more of Raj’s relationship the rest of the season, and based on what the show’s own executive producer has said, she’ll be back for more during season 8. Therefore, there’s no reason to worry about immediate change!
We’ll have a review tomorrow night of the next episode of “The Big Bang Theory,” and be sure to come back for that. Also, you can sign up today for further email updates on all we cover.
