‘The Following’ season 2 finale spoilers: Ryan and Hardy work to save Claire (video)
“The Following” has taken many a surprise twist, and not all of them for the better. However, there is something about seeing Ryan Hardy and Joe Carroll team up that could actually be pretty interesting to watch unfold.
The finale title alone is interesting in “Forgive,” mostly because it brings to light the scenes in the church in tonight’s episode, and also something that James Purefoy and Kevin Bacon’s characters are probably going to have to do if they want to move forward and actually become allies. That is, after all, what they will need to do in order to save a woman that they both love in Claire. In case you haven’t seen it already, take a look at the synopsis below:
“Mark and Luke (Sam Underwood) turn the tables on both Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) and Joe Carroll (James Purefoy), forcing the two sworn enemies to come together to save the woman they love.”
So why in the world would we see someone like Joe want to protect a woman he previously tried to kill? It is a good question, and the simple response that we have to it is that Joe, while he did try to kill Claire, surely doesn’t like the idea of someone else doing it. Mark and Luke are suddenly common enemies for the longtime adversaries, and now that Lily and Emma are both dead, they could be acting like men possessed.
Hopefully, this finale is going to be every bit as suspenseful as the one last year, and also will provide more in the way of genuine answers about where the show goes from here.
