‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 spoilers: Gwendoline Christie on Brienne / Jaime possibilities

Are you still of the group who wants to see Brienne and Jaime together on “Game of Thrones“? If you are, it’s hard to say that we really blame you. These two have one of those great connections that is rare for TV  characters, at least in that they are allowed to spend time together without it being forced to become romantic. If there is something romance-related that happens, it is more the result of natural progression than something we traditionally see.

So could this friendship really become more now? Brienne hardly denied during the Purple Wedding that there are feelings there, and the tease that Gwendoline Christie offered up to TVLine is certainly an interesting one:

“Jaime Lannister is a fine figure of a man, a traditional concept of everything a man could want to be … The idea of that relationship, with all of its tension and complexity, lacking a sexual aspect is very interesting to me because we see a man finding a woman truly attractive for her character. It transcends, or just not yet includes, a sexual motivation.”

Basically, the way we see this quote from Christie is that the two have formed a personal and intellectual connection at the moment, and if there is some sort of physical connection that does come up at some point, it will be natural rather than forced upon us by a story trying to rush things. Granted, the two also have a number of other things to focus on that are not romantic at all, including the death of Joffrey, Jaime no longer having a real place in King’s Landing, and Cersei seemingly hating Brienne already just for her affections.
