‘The Following’ season 2, episode 3 video: Watch a James Purefoy peek now
This week, no matter how you look at it, is going to be very much about sports from a TV perspective. We are coming off of the Super Bowl, after all, and in just the matter of a few days’ time from today, we are going to be looking straight at the Opening Ceremonies for the Sochi Olympics.
Luckily, there is at least some new TV worth bridging the gap between now and then, including a new episode of “The Following” Monday night that could, for better or worse, get Joe Carroll back in the game. After he murdered the reverend, he issues a warning to Carrie Preston and company in the sneak peek below: Let him go out again into the world, and stay quiet; otherwise, he will come back and start killing again.
Obviously, this murder was proof that despite whatever sort of “attempts” to change that may have been made, there really is no way for this zebra (played by James Purefoy) to change his stripes. A killer is still a killer, and he’s going to go back to doing some more of what he does best. That is extremely bad news in the event that he goes back and starts working with some of the new killers that are out there, in particular the Deadly Twins (as we like to call them) Mark and Luke.
Let’s just hope that somewhere in the midst of all the carnage, “The Following” remembers to maintain some of a soul. It relies on violence and blood at times too much, and it needs to have a little bit of a balance to keep things interesting. We should care about the show even when there is no threat of murder.
