Ratings: ‘The Carrie Diaries’ posts new season high; does it improve season 3 odds?
Obviously, the secret to success for “The Carrie Diaries” is pretty simple: All it has to do is find a way to air more episodes on nights where there is not much else on for people to watch.
For the first time in all of season 2 on Friday, The CW series made it over the 1 million viewer plateau, and also tied its season-high rating of 0.4 in the 18-49 demographic. While this is not exactly a rating worth bragging about, the show has demonstrated an ability to hold steady and keep its audience all year long, which is not something many other programs on the air have done.
As of right now, we would put “The Carrie Diaries” at least a head of a few other shows when it comes to its odds of getting another season. For sure, it has a better chance than “Beauty and the Beast,” which is drawing the same sort of numbers on a night in Monday where it should be performing better. Meanwhile, “Nikita” is gone, and we would even say that it may be better off than “The Tomorrow People” in that this show probably is aided heavily by airing after “Arrow,” and would not perform as well in this timeslot. AnnaSophia Robb and company have a very young audience, and also a good percentage of internet viewers. These are some of the reasons why the show was renewed for a second season in the first place.
In case you are wondering, the reason why we are giving “Hart of Dixie” a better shot of coming back over “the Carrie Diaries” is mostly due to the fact that it is currently in its third season, and for syndication purposes if nothing else it will likely be given another opportunity to air 22 episodes. It and “The Carrie Diaries,” at least to us, would actually make a nice Friday lineup and serve as counter-programming to the likes of “Grimm” and some of the more male-skewed shows that are out there.

I think this show seriously has what it takes to be on top if it were given another chance. Giving it time will improve its viewers. We gave it another season and it improved a bunch right? which only proves that it will prosper well in a third season. Besides, all of the viewers will be curious due to the various cliff hangers left in the season finale and it would be unfair to kill the show off just like that. All around twitter, The carrie diaries is all the talk that many of the teenagers seem to tweet about! non stop! I believe this show should be given another shot and would have a great shot at success. i dont see why not. there are many supporters that are willing to do anything just to make sure the show goes on

I cannot even begin to tell people how much I love the Carrie Diaries. It’s a real shame that many SATC fans hate this show even though it’s more like a younger version of Carrie Bradshaw. SATC completely screwed up Carrie Bradshaw’s image and I think this show really tries to follow the plot of the Carrie Diaries, the actual book, more than anything. Other than that I completely love the show and all the characters play amazing roles. This is definitely a great show for teens because some of the stuff is so relatable to! I really hope they’ll have a third season. It’s hard for new shows to become popular instantly. It takes a couple seasons to get the ball rolling.

I really don’t know why The Carrie Diaries isn’t doing amazingly. The characters are so much more developed than SATC, and I really enjoy the depth of the episodes!
