‘The X Factor’ USA spoilers: What America chose for Alex & Sierra, Restless Road, others
While it may not have the same sort of fancy and corporate-sponsored name like the Pepsi Challenge, “The X Factor” USA is still doing the same thing that they did last year in giving us a part of their performance show where America picks between three songs for the contestants to sing. The show announced the results of the voting today, and they are … mixed. A couple of the choices are great, and then a couple seem like either sabotage or ignorance on the part of the voters.
Alex & Sierra, “Little Talks” by Of Monsters and Men – This song actually sounds already a lot like the style of music that they sing, and the interesting part of this is going to be seeing if they can really put any sort of twist to it. (You may not realize that you already know this song, but search for this on YouTube. We bet you’ve heard this song before.)
Restless Road, “That’s My Kind of Night” by Luke Bryan – Look at the voters actually allowing Restless Road to do a bona fide country song! It’s a great choice, so let’s hope that this feels like a real country performance and not something with ten female dancers strutting around the stage.
Carlito Olivero, “Boyfriend” by Justin Bieber – Seriously? He could have done a much better song for him in “Hasta Ayer” by Marc Anthony, but he was doomed almost from the moment Bieber appeared on his list. This is the song that everyone knows, and we have a hard time thinking that it will be anything other than cheesy.
Jeff Gutt, “Hallelujah” – Ugh. Here we go again with this song. We’ve all heard “Hallelujah” a billion times, and we have a tough time really thinking that anybody actually wants to hear it again. But, here we are, preparing once again to hear this song yet again. Jeff will probably do an okay job with it, but we can’t be excited about the 1000th rendition of this on a singing show.

Jeff Gutt’s Hallelujah is one of the best renditions of that song I’ve ever heard. Ever. I loved Matthew Schuler’s version but I think Jeff’s blows his out of the water.

Hallelujah with Jeff Gutt would be my choice too…..Have you not heard him perform? I like that better than Matthew Schuler’s rendition on the Voice and that hit No 1 on iTunes.

A&S are so far ahead in the voting, this one is pretty much over, save for much more of Simon ranting about his groups.

Google Jeff Gutt and Hallelujah.. After seeing him sing it, you may be more revved about him performing it on the show.
