ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3, episode 10 preview: Can Olivia’s mother be stopped in fall finale?

The first half of “Scandal” season 3 is coming to a close, and it looks more and more like you can expect the doors to blow off before you make it to the closing seconds of next Thursday’s “A Door Marked Exit.” This looks as though it has the potential to be one of the most shocking episodes of the entire series’ run, and when you consider just what has unfolded on this show already, that is really saying something.

So what can you expect to see? The first thing here is more torture at the hands of Huck, who is going to continue to make Quinn suffer while the rest of the Gladiators are preoccupied. Olivia Pope has finally realized that all this time, it was not Eli who was the bad guy; instead, he was trying to protect her from her mother. This has to be one of the show’s most brilliant turnarounds to date, since we never saw it coming. She is currently on a plane to Hong Kong, so unless she finds a way to suddenly beat her there, Olivia may have to rely on some others to do the job.

Just in case this was all not enough chaos for you, remember this: We’re also going to be seeing some more horrible stuff in this episode courtesy of Sally Langston, who decided to create quite a major problem for her campaign: In her own words, she “sinned.” What remains somewhat stunning about this is that for a woman who seemed so desperately to be in control, why would she jeopardize this in such a way. Was her bark really much worse than her bite? Clearly, she does not have the same level of restraint to her anger that we have already seen out of Mellie.
