‘Elementary’ season 2 spoilers: More details on return of Natalie Dormer, Moriarty
When are you going to see the feared Moriarty make her return to “Elementary” this season? We now have an official answer for you, and it will be sooner than some of you would imagine: Thursday, January 2. Does that sound like a good way to kick off the new year? We think so.
As for the reasoning behind the character coming back now, it’s going to be somewhat interesting, given that she has spent the past several months behind bars in federal prison. However, Sherlock and Watson come to a conclusion that this nefarious criminal (played by Natalie Dormer of “Game of Thrones” fame) may have been involved in setting up a kidnapping of a young girl, they start to interrogate her to figure out just what she knows. When you consider who we’re dealing with here, that is not going to be a particularly easy task.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly (who also first posted the attached image), executive producer Rob Doherty teases that this will be an episode stuffed with at least a few interesting developments about who this woman really is:
“We’re going to learn a lot more about Moriarty. We’re going to reveal some secrets regarding her past and where she comes from and what she’s done to get where she is. You know, it’s definitely an episode with some major twists and we’re excited for it air.”
In case you are wondering why such a big story is being handed to us a little earlier than you would expect, one of the reasons is that the Olympics are in play this year. While shows tend to traditionally save some of their bigger episodes for the February sweeps, they are going to be changing things around this year to a certain extent to make sure that their big episodes get the sort of publicity and attention that they feel they deserve.
