‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 6, episode 12 preview: Is there any ‘sunshine’ for Maggie Siff’s Tara?
Ever since we first heard the news that Tuesday night’s “Sons of Anarchy” episode was entitled “You Are My Sunshine,” there has always been something a little sadistic about it. Maybe that is just the nature of the show continually forcing us to bring out our cynical side, or maybe it’s just that we know that a story like that of Jax Teller’s is not going to have some sort of happy ending where he is going to hold hands with the rest of SAMCRO and parade through the streets of Charming.
At the moment, we cannot imagine one person with cloudier skies before them than Maggie Siff’s character of Tara. Maggie has done a great job with the role this season, and we give her even more credit when you consider some of the internet seems to want to see terrible things happen to the character. The parallels between her and Skyler White online are pretty easy to find.
But what will the fate be for Tara on the show? Given that we just lost Ron Perlman two weeks ago, Kurt Sutter would be exceptionally cruel to also take away another longtime character tonight or in the finale. But then again, this is a very cruel world, and cruel things happen. There will most likely be another person killed before the story ends for the year, whether you are talking about a recurring player or a series regular, just based on history and those “most violent season ever” teases earlier this year. While Tara would not currently be #1 on our “most likely to die” list right now, there’s no doubt that she is in an awful position. She wants to protect the children, but has no real means to do so and no present allies.
Finally, here’s one last tease from Sutter on Twitter (which he composed yesterday) before this episode airs:
“Tomorrow night. Ep. 612: YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE. War escalates in the club & family. And, as promised, NAKED JUICE. Please don’t miss it.”
