NBC’s ‘Hannibal’ season 2 spoilers: Eddie Izzard confirms return for two episodes

Hannibal -Even though “Hannibal” may have a pretty closed-off set at times when it comes to getting information, we can at least tell you something exciting now for all of you big-time Eddie Izzard fans out there: The actor is going to be returning to the NBC series this coming spring for another guest-spot as Dr. Abel Gideon.

Izzard (who has another Bryan Fuller connection courtesy of his work on the short-lived pilot for “The Munsters”) confirmed the news to Digital Spy while promoting the film “Force Majeure,” and also had the following comment to share:

“I will be back. Everyone’s given me great feedback on Hannibal and I’ve only done two episodes – I really let go in that one!”

Now, we just have to hope that more people give “Hannbial” a chance in its second season, after struggling pretty much throughout its first go-around to get big numbers. Luckily, it did happen to be a pretty fantastic show, and it has a devoted audience despite being on the air a short time. Hopefully some will have a chance to catch up on new episodes over the coming weeks, and we would love to see the show actually air fully in the summer, where it could be given a timeslot similar to “Under the Dome” and have far less in the way of major competition. There isn’t much other programming like this airing that time of year unless you count “True Blood,” and that has a much wackier tone than this one.

Did you like Izzard’s character on “Hannibal” the first time around, and are you looking forward to seeing even more of him the rest of the way? Share your thoughts below, and be sure to also follow this link to read some more scoop related to the show. We’ll have more as it becomes available.
