‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ preview: Kandi Burruss’ mom goes after Todd
There is one thing we’ve definitely learned already about Kandi Burruss’ mother on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta“: She is not an easy person to win over, especially when you are someone trying to romance her daughter. What makes Mama Joyce easily one of the best (or at least the most entertaining) mothers on any reality show is that she is basically the real-life version of that over-protective father than you see time and time again on sitcoms. Not only does she speak her mind (and constantly), she’s not afraid to keep doing it even after you tell her not to.
One of the major storylines that will unfold on Sunday night because of this is a heated situation between Joyce and Kandi’s fiance Todd. She does not let the guy off easy … at all. This is even in spite of the idea that he is probably one of the least offensive guys that is featured on here pretty regular. He’s definitely a step up from Kordell Stewart, at least when it comes to the way that he was treating Porsha.
You can see a brief glimpse of some of the drama in the preview below, and the synopsis also teases that Phaedra Parks is going to head out of state to finally make some more progress in that story all about her mortuary business:
“Phaedra heads to Alabama to study for her upcoming mortuary exam, and Apollo turns to Peter for advice on how to handle their marital issues. Meanwhile, Porsha’s sister Lauren pressures her to look for her own apartment, and then the tension between Mama Joyce and Todd finally comes to a head.”
By the time that we reach the end of this episode, it may be a little easier to know where Joyce and Todd stand, and also if they can actually get along. If not this week, then it’ll probably be resolved at some point in the episode after.
