‘Glee’ season 5, episode 7 preview: Hear Darren Criss’ Blaine perform with puppets

Blaine -Want to see one of the performances from tonight’s “Glee” episode “Puppet Master” prior to the it airing? Well, we got a new sneak peek from the episode below that focuses on “You’re My Best Friend.”

This song is basically just a cheery number that is made even cheesier by the addition of what is the gimmick of this episode: The puppets. Darren Criss performs this alongside puppet versions of all of his fellow New Directions members, and it’s fun. It is not the most revolutionary innovation of a song that we’ve ever heard, but it fills a good prerequisite of what is a good song on the show. In the end, we really don’t even want to see something that is altogether serious on this episode. This is Thanksgiving, after all! Let’s have something to be thankful for!

This series is also the second-to-last of the fall portion of the season, and given that next week’s “Previously Unaired Christmas” is some sort of convenient flashback, this could be the last time that you get any sort of action occurring in the present. Therefore, let’s hope that the show breaks from the mold somewhat and gives you a holiday where something significant happens. For Darren, this caps off what is a pretty big two weeks for him. He had a big role on “Movin’ Out” where he tried to determine just what his future was going to be, and this time out he will be having to battle off some criticism from his fellow New Directions members that he is some sort of power-hungry control freak. We don’t mind this, but the character likes to be at the center of attention.

What do you think about this performance, and are you excited to see Blaine and his puppet parade? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below! Click here if you’re curious to see a longer peek where Criss, Chris Colfer, and Adam Lambert all have something to say about the episode.
