‘American Horror Story: Coven’ spoilers: The trouble with Emma Roberts’ Madison

What do you do from here with a character like Madison on “American Horror Story: Coven“? This is someone who was killed off, brought back, and has yet to become any more likable at all at any point during the transition. While her witch powers are at least somewhat more appealing than Zoe’s, that scene with Kyle and Taissa Farmiga’s character last week was hardly one that will go down in the annals of history.

Really, what we are especially curious about now is more or less what happens to the character next … and if there is any real use for her anymore. To us, the primary goal of her being brought back was for Cordelia to know who killed her, and she’s already figured that out. Unless she can find a way to use her powers for the battle against either Fiona or Lavaeu, we don’t know what else the character is going to be used for. (Then again, you could say that the problem for many characters this season is that they are spinning their wheels, and not really going anywhere.)

For those of you out there who are cynical like us and suspicious as to what the series could have up its sleeve the rest of the way, Emma Roberts does at least promise to E! News that there is a reason to keep watching:

“There is so much happening with Madison on American Horror Story. I can’t wait for you guys to see. I can’t really divulge too much but every week when I get my script, I actually am shocked. So you guys will be probably even more shocked! The twists are out of control and the characters just get better and better.” 

Ultimately, we don’t really know what else Roberts was supposed to say other than this, given that she would of course want to try and hype the show up to the best of her ability. “American Horror Story” in some ways needs it, and to at least show us what the next move is going to be for either Fiona, Laveau, or the witching school before the time that the series goes off the air for its Christmas vacation.
