ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 3 spoilers: More on ‘Exodus,’ Emily Thorne’s wedding episode
Is “Exodus” the midseason finale of “Revenge“? When you look at the way in which the schedule is currently constructed, it feels like it is. This is an hour that will air on December 15, which is the same night that “Once Upon a Time” is going to cap off its own Neverland saga with “Going Home.” Not only that, but this is an episode that is going to deal with the event that so many fans have been waiting to see for a while now: The wedding of Emily Thorne and Daniel Grayson.
Of course, anyone who has been following this season knows already that this is not a wedding decorated with flowers, rainbows, and other cheery things. The Grayson family does not approve so much of Daniel’s union, and we know that Emily gets shot on the occasion. (You can see a list of suspects for the shooting here.)
Now, let’s move on to a few assorted details that we know already about the episode, beginning with the official synopsis from ABC:
“The wedding of the century has finally arrived and Emily’s master plan is poised to go off without a hitch until enemies unite, bringing new complications and leading to dire consequences.”
What is also worth noting here is that this episode was co-wrote by showrunner Sunil Nayar, and anytime that you see that on a press release, it typically means that the episode is a pretty big deal. Sunil, like every other network showrunner, doesn’t have the time to write every installment, and they typically get involved with most of the big ones.
This episode also holds another interesting distinction of being the last episode of the show to air directly after a new “Once Upon a Time” at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. The next time that the two shows share the night will be in March, when “Revenge” is moved to 10:00 p.m. in lieu of new series “Resurrection.” This is just another sign that “Betrayal” is pretty much canceled, and ABC doesn’t really love the ratings “Revenge” is drawing anymore.

Mike Kelley said the concept for the series was inspired by the book “The Count of Monte Cristo.” That is a story about revenge, but the main theme is redemption. This show did a great job with Emily exacting revenge in the first couple of seasons, but didn’t follow through with the redemption. These writers are shallow, shallow, shallow. They should have never listened to the complainers. There was good, character driven story to tell. I hope it is not too late for this fantastic cast to get a good story to tell.

Sadly, I finally gave up on Revenge. They are so worried about love triangles and soapy twists that they simply stopped caring about whether or not any of it makes sense. The final straw was learning that Emily’s big revenge plan is to frame Victoria for her murder. Of course, it flies in the face of Emily’s statement last year that “the kind of revenge she wants has nothing to do with prison.” Remember? Emily had a laptop containing all the evidence necessary to destroy the Graysons and send Victoria and Conrad to prison. Evidence that would also clear her father’s name. She threw it into the ocean, and made the above-mentioned statement in justification. Now she gives the Graysons a treasure of gold to keep them rich and plots to send only Victoria to prison. For a crime she didn’t commit. Seriously? Ugh. I used to love this show.

I couldn’t agree more with you Lucas! I loved loved the show and now I am so frustrated with the show! The Graysons can do no wrong legally…basically they continue to get away with murder and it is so annoying how they keep coming out on top! The show lost sight of Emily!

if you remember the first season was all about emily winning it this season is all about what happens if things don’t always go as emily planned it would pretty much make the repetitive if emily keeps winning

I disagree that “they’re bringing it” this season. This season’s developments have been stupid, in my opinion. This season’s writers are the ones who came up with this lame revenge plot involving Victoria being framed for murder, which makes no sense given the story that preceded. What more do I want? I want coherent storytelling, for starters.

Victoria getting framed for a crime she did not do sounds stupid? Because yeah, *sarcasm* Victoria has never tried to frame or slander anyone, she especially did not help Conrad frame David and she certainly does not slander and blackmail people *end sarcasm*.
I think I’ll judge the plotline after I see it unfold. Because if the past is any indication, not all of Emily’s plans work and Victoria might live to see another day getting away with everything under the sun.

You miss the point. It isn’t stupid because Victoria doesn’t deserve it. It’s stupid because not too long ago Emily had “all the evidence necessary” to both clear her father’s name and send Victoria and Conrad to prison. She threw the evidence away, claiming that “the kind of revenge she wants has nothing to do with prison.” That she now plans to frame Victoria and send her to prison is remarkably stupid given the story that preceded. Also, it doesn’t hurt Conrad to send Victoria away.I agree that Victoria will probably get off the hook. That isn’t at all related to my point. My point is about the plan and how poorly it fits into the story.

First of all, people change their minds; that’s probably why Emily decided to frame Victoria for a false murder after she destroyed the evidence midway through season 2. Maybe you should judge the plot after it unfolds. Victoria was not framed at all since Emily’s plot fell apart (the part in the promos that showed her getting arrested was a fantasy of Emily’s). As for the part where you said it wouldn’t hurt Conrad to send Victoria away, Emily did say Victoria would try to pin evidence on Conrad (and knowing Victoria, she probably could’ve pinned evidence on Conrad with some outside help).

I think all the fans want to do is whine, gripe, bitch, and moan about everything. If Revenge ends this season (or at Season 4), at least the whiners will shut up.

I cant wait for this episode. It sort of ridiculous that ABC is pushing Revenge to 10 PM. I get it doesn’t attract 10 Million viewers like Modern Family or Scandal (which got its start airing after revenge during season 1) but it is still a successful show that attracts 6 million viewers on average. Which is successful on other networks such as Fox. Glee attracts 4-5 million viewers per episode and it is still considered successful and the marketing is everywhere. Point being it will be sad if ABC cancels this great show

When it comes to show’s popularity going downhill, I don’t blame ABC, Mike Kelley, Americon Initiative, the Porter bros, the Ryan bros, Baby Carl David, Ashley, Kara Clarke, Charlotte, or whatever is else is related to this show.
I blame the fan-base. It’s seriously becoming similar to Star Wars movie purists and Sonic the Hedgehog fanboys. All the whining of “Too many characters (Translation: I can’t count, so the show sucks)”, “They’re changing it (Translation: I don’t like change, so the show has jumped the shark), needs to just STOP.
Revenge definitely has its flaws, I acknowledge that. But the good outweighs the bad similar to a ton of bricks outweighing a ton of feathers.

i also think that the move to 10 might not be a bad thing for the show because in its current timeslot it had to go up against some pretty heavy which brought down its ratings so maybe this new timeslot will improve its raitngs

i’m sad that abc moved revenge to 10 but i understand that revenge is no longer strong enough to be a lead in, whats sad is that abc barely promotes it anymore
