‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ review: Phaedra Parks, Kenya Moore, and text-gate
Was Phaedra Parks’ husband carrying on some sort of inappropriate relationship with Kenya Moore? This was the question at the center of Sunday’s “Real Housewives of Atlanta” episode, which rattled off all sorts of time when it comes to Phaedra and Apollo Nida.
So who won this debate between the two? Clearly, it was Phaedra … and it was not even close. Apollo seemed extremely uncomfortable to ever even be discussing his personal life with his wife on camera, especially text messages that he felt were not nearly as inappropriate as Phaedra found them to be. This entire fight was in part ridiculous, but also just depressing. We really just don’t find watching relationship conflict that interesting between a married couple, especially one that has had this much of a backstory already. There’s a difference between that and watching a new relationship fall apart.
This is also why we don’t find the Porsha Stewart story to be particularly entertaining, either, and this is why she and Phaedra are somewhat dragging the show down at this point. It’s too heavy, like you are watching some sort of dramatic character study. We have a hard time really rooting for these sort of storylines to continue, even if it’s a part of their lives. At least Porsha seems to have the support of most of her co-stars now, and plans to show them who the “real” Porsha is separate from her marriage to Kordell.
Are there some great moments in here still? Sure. We enjoy the NeNe Leakes storyline, and Cynthia Bailey has been very underrated so far this year as an entertainer. But in between Kenya, Porsha, and Phaedra, you have three ladies who are all going through some depressing stuff. We like our show happy and fun, and with some of the drama being of the ridiculous variety. Since we already know that this is a pre-designed construct, we don’t really need the Housewives to be that “real.” Grade: C.

I think Kandi needs to take care of her husband to be and her mother with all respect needs to find her a provider (a man). Kandi will need to stand beside her husband and her daughter in order for her home to be complete.
