ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 6, episode 10 preview: Nathan Fillion, Seamus Dever, and baby anxiety

Ryan -For much of “The Good, the Bad, and the Baby” on “Castle” Monday night, the focus is going to be mostly on Nathan Fillion’s Rick and Stana Katic’s Kate as they try to figure out how in the world they are supposed to both solve a murder, care for a child, and also look for the kid’s rightful guardian. But what happens when you also throw Detective Ryan into the mix? Let’s just say that you get a generous dose of anxiety over whether or not Ryan is really ready to be a father, or if he is still shaking in his boots for a legitimate reason.

In the sneak peek video below, Ryan asks Castle if he can hold the child for a minute or two to get used to it, mostly because his wife is going to be giving birth at some point in the near future. Ryan does his best here, but the child’s just not having it. Seamus Dever plays this perfectly, mostly because this is the same way a soon-to-be father would handle the paranoia that they are doing something wrong and are not prepared yet to be a dad. In reality? Ryan will most likely be just fine.

As for some other important (and pretty funny) information, Castle has apparently named the temporary addition to his family Cosmo, mostly because this is the name that he wanted to give Alexis if she was not a girl. In honor of Thanksgiving, he has also bought the child a turkey costume. Does this spell out a possible attachment issue here? To think, we wondered before this episode if he was the one that would have anxiety about welcoming a newborn at this point in his life. Beckett seems to be the one that is far more apprehensive to having another kid someday.

You can see some other evidence of the Rick / Kate baby situation in the following two videos, just in case you want some more previews.

1. This one highlights specifically the discovery of the child at a church.

2. Meanwhile, this one proves that Rick is a diaper-changing machine.
