NBC’s ‘Revolution’ season 2 spoilers: How long will Kim Raver stick around for?
During Wednesday night’s midseason finale for “Revolution,” one of the biggest shockers was learning that not only was Julia still alive, but she was spotted by none other than Tom Neville (Giancarlo Esposito) at the end of the episode. This marks a pretty significant game-changer when it comes to the Neville story, since thus far his focus has been almost entirely centered around the Patriots.
But is this upcoming appearance from the former “Grey’s Anatomy” star going to ultimately be short-lived? Not entirely. As executive producer Eric Kripke confirms to Entertainment Weekly, Raver will at least stick around for a generous chunk of season 2 before returning to work on the upcoming summer season of “24”:
“We always knew from the beginning that we wanted the midseason twist in Neville’s story to be that Julia appears. And, of course, we heard, much to our anxiety, that she was going to be going back to 24, but she was very gracious and had a window where she could work with us for multiple episodes … She has a multi-episode arc and then, ultimately, she has to go back to 24. But her enthusiasm for Julia and her drive to make it work in her schedule to come back and play the character again was greatly appreciated.”
In some ways, Kripke has to be thrilled to even have her around at all, given that the character could have easily been absent from the show altogether had “NCIS: Red” (the pilot that she tried to take part in last spring) been picked up to series last spring. It’s thanks to this that we really just consider her being a part of the show at all right now to be a blessing, especially since it makes Neville’s story much more complicated and interesting than it otherwise would have been. This really is a guy where the more dynamic you make his story, the better off as a viewer that it is going to be.
