‘Glee’ season 5: Lea Michele posts first photo from music video

Lea Michele -Lea Michele has had a knack for shooting music videos for quite some time now. After all, that’s a part of her job description on “Glee.” But, we imagine the feeling being slightly different and even more rewarding when you get to do it for something that is your own creation.

While there may not bee too many details available yet about Lea’s debut single, she did post the attached photo today on Twitter from her first shoot. Clearly, this is going to be a colorful video, and there’s enough of a lens flare that you could be convinced that J.J. Abrams was directing it. This marks a bold new music direction for Lea one way or another, given that this is never something that she has even attempted in the past.

There are still a ton of mysteries surrounding this, including just what sort of music she is going to try to record along with what the overall look of the video will be. So far, we’ve seen the “Glee” cast members go in very different directions when it comes to their styles. You have someone like Naya Rivera going the pop / R&B route, and then Matthew Morrison going for more classic standards following a stint in the adult-contemporary market. Both Mark Salling and former “Glee Project” winner Damian McGinty have released indie music that combines several different elements, and the late, great Cory Monteith was a part of a rock band.

The most amazing thing here is simply that Lea really even has the time to work on something musically, given everything else that she does have going on in her life right now. “Glee” season 5 is in full swing in terms of filming, and she’s also been working on a book entitled “Brunette Ambition.” Add to this her various endorsements, and you have what more or less constitutes a full plate for a young woman who has gone through one heck of a year already.

Thursday night’s “Glee” will be the anticipated tribute to Billy Joel. Just in case you don’t want to wait, click here to take a listen to one of the songs to be featured in it.
