‘Hart of Dixie’ season 3, episode 7 review: Zoe, Wade, and Joel’s kidnapping

Zoe -Sometimes on “Hart of Dixie,” we really do revel in some of the silliness. This is not a show that’s going to make you think about serious themes hours after it airs; instead, it’s more one designed to have you laughing at times, rooting for romances, and seeing what happens next in the quirky little town of BlueBell, Alabama.

With this in mind, we really saw what was one of the crazier stories of the season tonight courtesy of Joel being kidnapped by the Truitt Brothers, and there being all sorts of insanity that came as a result. As it turned out, Joel actually seemed to enjoy being prisoner for some sort of bizarre reason … and it even helped to break him out of his writers’ block that he was suffering (which was something that Zoe at first blamed on Wade for getting in the way).

If you are a “Zade” shipper, there were some great moments this week. But what we liked about the story is that it reinforced that Joel is not a bad guy, and you really can’t root against him so much as you can root for someone else.

While all of this was going on, and we were also seeing some news break about Lemon .and a pregnancy … but it wasn’t her own. Who would have imagined that Jaime King’s pregnancy would not be included, but there would be another story elsewhere on the project? Shelby is pregnant, and it also turns out that Laura Bell Bundy is now back in the picture (which is surprising given her new “Anger Management” gig).

Meanwhile, Lavon and AnnaBeth got a step closer to making their relationship permanent even without him popping the question, and George and Lynly finally decided to go public about the feelings that they have for each other. All in all, a nice hour worth of entertainment. We don’t really care still for the bromance with Wade and Joel, but at least most of everything tonight fit well with the tone of the show. Grade: B.
