2013 American Country Awards book Darius Rucker to perform, Scotty McCreery to appear

ACAs -Here is the sort of news that probably no one out there was all that amped up in particular to see: Who is going to be performing at the American Country Awards this year. This is an awards show that has at times been an enigma more than anything else; there are already a ton of country shows out there already, as every major TV network other than NBC has one. This is clearly also the weakest of the bunch, since it seems to favor slightly more the artists who have already appeared on other Fox programs like “American Idol.”

Want some more evidence of that? Then know that both Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina are both on tap to appear at the show this year. Both are previous winners of the New Artist award here, but Lauren has struggled to really find prominence in the industry lately. Meanwhile, Scotty’s new single “See You Tonight” has not exactly turned into a ratings smash itself; we do still think that he could have a little bit of a career ahead in this industry, but country music tends to favor more the guys who have been around for a little while.

Also on tap this year as performers will be Darius Rucker alongside Sheryl Crow, who will hit the stage and try to inject some energy into this ordeal. Danica Patrick is hosting this year alongside longtime host Trace Adkins, and the show will air on Tuesday, December 10. One of the reasons why this show has struggled at times to receive much media attention is simply because the CMA Awards were only matter of eight days ago, and there are also the American Music Awards still to come. When you consider all of this, it’s somewhat strange to even think that another awards show can even function at all. This one does, and so long as the ratings don’t decrease, it probably still has a little bit of life left to it.

Are you interested in checking this out this year, or ready for this to be one awards show that really does ride off into the sunset? Be sure to share your thoughts below.
