‘Shark Tank’ preview: Slawsa, a Robert Hervajec quote, and more on the way

Shark Tank -Typically when we preview “Shark Tank” episodes, we like to do so using in part an official press release from ABC that teases a product that will be revisited on the episode. For whatever reason, that wasn’t included in the release this week. (If there is an update segment, it’s not being teased.)

Then again, we imagine that there is going to be so much else happening during this episode that you really won’t miss the update too much, at least based on the synopsis below for Friday. The sharks this week are going to include Daymond John, Mark Cuban, Lori Greiner, Kevin O’Leary, and Robert Herjavec, which means that Barbara Corcoran is sadly not going to be involved. It looks like there’s still going to be a pretty good array of products, and also Robert Herjavec quoting “The Wizard of Oz” for some reason. Sounds like fun:

“Tonight’s standouts include a product from an entrepreneur from Pacific Palisades, CA that ensures you’ll always know who’s ringing your front door, regardless if you’re at home. Two sisters from Washington, D.C have an impressive subscription gift service to send children imaginative toys to spark their creativity on a regular basis. A frugal entrepreneur from Cramerton, NC whose best-selling slaw/salsa condiment is flying off the shelves in some national grocery chains, and three men from Troy, MI have an app that enables you to create customized products from your cell phone and then sell them in a virtual marketplace. But which near-deal prompts Robert Herjavec to shout in disbelief, ‘We’re not in Kansas anymore!’—find out on ‘Shark Tank.”

Since we like to talk about at least one product being featured on the show in advance, and we always love the food products, let’s talk about this slaw/salsa hybrid appropriately known as Slawsa. It’s tough to gauge if this is going to be worthy of investment without seeing or hearing about the numbers, but the website is pretty well put-together, it’s utilizing the internet properly, and we are in an age where people love to try out new condiments almost constantly. Everyone wants to say that they’re a foodie, so we would be willing to give this sort of business a shot even without trying it. If this were four years ago, we would be a little more skeptical, but more people these days seem to be willing to spend money on food products that there is not necessarily a pressing need for.

We’ll be back tomorrow night with a full review of this episode, but for now, click here if you want to read about some other highlights from this season.
