‘American Idol’ and awkward reflection: Mariah Carey calls time at show ‘hell’

The news -Well, it looks like there is probably one thing that we can say right now about Mariah Carey: She really did not like her time on “American Idol” last season. The entire production was a mess from a start, as she and Nicki Minaj famously bickered to the point where a massive argument was posted all over the internet. From there, things only got worse as she barely acknowledged Nicki the rest of the way, and the judging panel looked listless and disinterested throughout the entire live rounds.

Mariah was asked about the subject in an interview on radio station Hot 97, and you cannot say that the “We Belong Together” was anything less than honest when it comes to talking about her experience. As a matter of fact, we don’t think that she could have been any more honest if she tried:

“Honestly, I hated it … It was like going to work every day in hell, with Satan.”

While she did not explicitly say just who was Satan, we’re guessing that it is is Minaj she is referring to here. These two don’t mince words, and we won’t be shocked if they’re never really in the same room for anything ever again.

As for the future of “American Idol” the show has already prepared itself for an exciting season 13, as there are some judges on board now in Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez, and Harry Connick Jr. that actually seem happy to be there. Not only that, but they all are making some sort of reasonably effort to be civil and actually enjoy one another’s company. We just cannot express how important that really is to making a show go well; while you can edit the audition rounds as much as possible to make them seem decent, you really can’t fake the live shows. (It’s been almost five years since there has been a good panel for this round.)
