‘Supernatural’ season 9 spoilers: See a young version of Jensen Ackles’ Dean
While Tuesday night’s “Supernatural” season 9 episode “Heaven Can Wait” is going to give us some more insight into what Misha Collins’ Castiel has been up to in the days since his last appearance on the show, the one following it (entitled “Bad Boys”) is going to do a rather stellar job on its own trying to give you more and more of a backstory regarding some parts of Dean’s troubled childhood.
First of all, hats of to the casting department for finding a young actor who really does look a lot like Jensen Ackles, and also shares his taste for fashion in the process. This is going to be an episode that takes us on an interesting trip not only in seeing just what has been going on with Dean in this time, but also why Sam wasn’t there. We’re hoping of course that they don’t put one brother down in order to build another one up, but these two do have a complicated history in that regard (especially during some of their early years).
What mostly does surprise us is that the show is continually finding new parts of the past to show us that are interesting, but also at the same time not so revelatory that they completely change everything that happened before them. The last thing that we would want would be to see the course of history changed by something that we see in an episode, and it luckily does not appear like we are on the cusp of that happening in the first place. This appears to be more instead along the lines of getting to just see another great character story, and something that could inform the rest of the season … even if it does nothing to get Castiel and the other angels back up to heaven.
