Watch Jon Stewart take on the Miami Dolphins, Richie Incognito scandal (video)

The Daily Show with Jon StewartWe will be the first person to tell you that when it comes to professional sports, we know about as much about locker-room behavior as we do whether or not there are aliens living on Pluto. But what we do know is that the takedown that Jon Stewart just gave to the Miami Dolphins over the Richie Incognito scandal on “The Daily Show” this week is the sort of thing that traditionally, only legends are able to achieve. This is the sort of smackdown that is best for a wrestling ring, and it’s hard to argue as to the Dolphins not deserving it after all of the headlines that we have heard as of late.

Let us start here by recapping the chain of events in case you haven’t heard. There was a football player named Jonathan Martin who left the team to deal with some emotional issues recently, and through some reports it was determined that Incognito had referred to him by racial slurs, called him names, and also even bullied him at one point into paying money for a trip to Las Vegas he did not even take.

As Stewart points out, the part of this story that is even more crazy / shocking is that somewhere from here, the Dolphins players started to complain about how this was Martin’s fault for not being a “man” and taking what was coming to him. Wait, they are defending a guy for making derogatory comments and discussing the “culture” of such a place? Maybe this is football ignorance speaking here, but what sort of a workplace allows you to have a culture of saying terrible, awful things and then give you millions of dollars in return? Even for a sport that somehow pays you for hitting other guys this is crazy.

But politics aside, this is just a fun video that will remind you that even when he is covering topics that may be a certain distance away from his typical subject matter, Jon is one of the smartest guys in the room.
