‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 6: Katey Sagal talks Charlie Hunnam, life, on ‘Watch What Happens Live’

The latest -In what is the least surprising news of the week, Katey Sagal could not get out of an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live!” without a caller asking about her “Sons of Anarchy” co-star Charlie Hunnam dropping out of “50 Shades of Grey.” (If this isn’t your cup of tea, skip to the bottom paragraphs of the article; we’ve got other stuff too!)

It should be pretty easy to figure out why this happened if you think about it. A good percentage of the sort of people who probably read the E.L. James book also probably choose to watch Bravo on a regular basis, and it also marks an opportunity to get information from a woman who does spend a ton of time with him.

But of course, Katey handled the matter like a true professional, offering up the following quote explaining that he has his reasons for saying no to the project. The weird thing was that Sagal almost was forced to defend him to a caller, who seems to be insinuating that he just had a PR excuse to get out of a project that he really didn’t want to do:

“Charlie is a very private guy and even though we work on a TV show together, we don’t work every day together, so I haven’t really spoken with him that much about it. My feeling is schedule definitely has a part to play in it and I’m sure he had very good reasons for why he is not in that movie. I know he was doing another film right after that one, it was very backed up, so I would believe him.”

As you would expect, Bravo decided to also release a video that features the entire exchange, which is of course a little awkward. We personally always find audience callers to be that way, since it interrupts the energy going on onstage and introduces an outsider in the conversation. No offense to the caller, but this just is not our thing.

Just in case hearing all about “50 Shades of Grey” is not what you’re looking for, which makes sense given that the story is just about played out, there’s also another pair of videos below from the appearance that we found to be interesting, and a nice little compliment to remind you that there are some other great things from this episode. One is pretty silly, and another gives you Katey’s perspective on music, life, and more.
